SPARWOOD LIONS INFORMATION

We have served the Sparwood community for over 40 years

• We meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at the Causeway Bay Hotel - 7:00 p.m.

These are supper meetings - specials or off the menu.

Every year, we do these and other projects in Sparwood:

• Lions TV Bingo on Sundays from September until April

• Lions Advertisers Auction the 3rd Saturday of every November

• Lion’s Pancake Breakfast during Coal Miner Days

• A Bursary that goes to a Grade 12 student from Sparwood that is going on to higher education and that demonstrates volunteerism.

Lions Club Objects

• TO CREATE and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

• TO PROMOTE the principles of good government and good citizenship.

• TO TAKE an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

• TO UNITE the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

• TO PROVIDE a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by Club members.

• TO ENCOURAGE service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours.

Lion’s Clubs International The World's Largest Service Club Organization

• Our 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We're also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet. Read more about Lions here: www.lionsclubs.org
